Parking Nîmes: discover the town
Key takeaway: Nîmes, the French Rome, offers the Arena, Maison Carrée, Tour Magne and Pont du Gard (UNESCO). Its historic centre (the Écusson) is very lively.
Nicknamed the French Rome, Nîmes, prefecture of the Gard department in the Occitanie region, has many strengths and plenty of charm!
Rich in an exceptional and unique historical heritage, the town draws very many tourists every year. Its famous landmarks: the Nîmes Arena, the Maison Carrée, the Tour Magne as well as the Pont du Gard nearby make the commune particularly appealing. Indeed, the new Nîmes Pont-du-Gard station was named in honour of this famous bridge, a UNESCO heritage site.
Its very mild climate, surrounding landscapes and nearness to the sea make Nîmes a great place to live!
Nîmes' neighbourhoods grow around its historic centre, the Écusson. Around the Arena, broad shaded boulevards, plane trees, small shops, hotels, a museum and restaurants make the hyper-centre lively. Right next door,the Nîmes Centre station, as well as the prefecture or the law courts, extend this continuity. Other neighbourhoods make up Nîmes, such as:
- Courbessac,
- Grézan,
- Mas de Mingue,
- Montaury,
- Quais de la Fontaine
- Or Valdegour.
The allées Jean Jaurès are probably Nîmes' best-known boulevards. Lastly, the town can be proud to have its own airport, the Nîmes Alès Camargue Cévennes airport.
What about parking? What are the solutions to park? Yespark lays out all the options for parking your vehicle in Nîmes and the parking rental solutions in the town of Nîmes.
Find a parking space in Nîmes
Key takeaway: On-street parking is paid Monday to Friday, 9am to 7pm (red/green zones), free at weekends.
Local authorities very often set a restrictive parking policy to ensure better vehicle turnover. Binding rules push drivers towards more fluidity. It unclogs the busiest areas, and restricted zones help fight the phenomenon of abandoned vehicles.
The Gard's biggest town has no fewer than 5,100 paid surface spaces. Spread across the red and green zones, paid parking in Nîmes applies Monday to Friday, 9am to 7pm. Free parking applies at weekends and on public holidays. A resident subscription is available for all eligible local drivers. While affordable, these subscriptions do not guarantee a space and don't spare you from looking around, sometimes for a long time!
There are public car parks, but paid ones, available in Nîmes. Handy because they're often well located, they turn out, on the other hand, to be pricey. We advise using them for quick errands.
The best alternative at the best price is parking rental. This solution has several advantages:
- Time saving, a personal space exclusively dedicated to your vehicle;
- Money saving, subscriptions at very attractive prices;
- You gain peace of mind and serenity, no more driving round your neighbourhood for the umpteenth time!
Top spots where it's impossible to park: opt for parking rental in Nîmes
Key takeaway: Saturated areas: boulevard Talabot, station surroundings, Polyclinique Grand Sud, Colisée and stade des Costières. Yespark offers spaces to rent in these areas.
Some neighbourhoods or areas of Nîmes are busier than others. It's trickier to find a space for your vehicle. What places are we talking about?
Boulevard Talabot
Bordering the Faubourg neighbourhood, the boulevard Talabot is a very busy artery of Nîmes. Stretching from the route d'Avignon to the SNCF Nîmes station, the two-way boulevard Talabot is lined with many shops, homes and services. Parking spaces here are especially sought after. In this area, Yespark offers an above-ground, clean and maintained car park to rent at25 boulevard Talabot.
Station area
As is well known, the surroundings of a station are always saturated! Yespark offers, on a monthly rental basis, very handy and ideally located parking spaces at 13 allée Boissy d'Anglas in the administrative district of Nîmes. You'll no longer have any excuse to miss your train!
Polyclinique Grand Sud and Colisée area
In the south of the town, this saturated area brings together visitors and staff of the Polyclinique, athletes of the Stade des Costières and the Némausa swimming pool, as well as all visitors to the Parc des Expositions! This neighbourhood therefore draws a lot of cars. The solution? Yespark provides it, with the rental of a space in an underground car park at 169 rue Paul Calabro or 286 rue Louis Landi! A little further north of the area, near the Rond Point des Nations Unies, Yespark can offer you several spaces at 12 rue du Colisée.
