Where to find a parking space in Lyon?

For drivers, the news is bad in Lyon: thousands of parking spaces are removed every year. In 2024, the Tilsitt and Joffre quays are particularly affected. The city has also announced plans to gradually remove free spaces.

Several options are available: 

• on-street spaces, very expensive and time-limited;
• underground car parks or multi-storey (LPA, INDIGO, EFFIA, Q-Park…);
• parking spaces run by companies like Yespark (medium or long-term).

• Avoid the Presto zone (orange), which is mainly along the main traffic axes and on the Presqu'Île (outside Confluence), and is very expensive.

• Nearly all streets in the west of the 4th district.

• Most streets of the 7th district except north-west and around Gerland stadium.
• Nearly all streets of the 8th district.
• 9th district: paid in the east and 4 streets in the Duchère area.

On-street parking in Lyon changes on 11 June 2024. A new system replaces the Tempo and Presto zones. Here are the new parking rates: 

In Lyon's paid zone, parking is free between 7pm and 9am, as well as on Sundays and public holidays. In the Tempo zone, August is free.

To pay for an on-street parking space in Lyon, you can pay directly at the meter by bank card, cash or with your smartphone. You can also pay remotely via your smartphone using the Flowbird app or on the Flowbird website. Finally, you can pay by phone call on 09 78 46 30 00 (free call).

Public car parks generally offer spaces for powered two-wheelers (PTWs). On-street, spaces are also provided.

You can park in some delivery spaces in Lyon. However, certain rules must be followed.

There are two types of delivery zones to distinguish. If a space is marked with dashed lines, it's not exclusively reserved for deliveries. You can park there from Monday to Saturday from 8pm to 7am, as well as on Sundays and public holidays.

On the other hand, spaces marked with solid lines are strictly reserved for deliveries, and parking there is forbidden at all times. Failure to follow the rules on delivery zones in Lyon can result in fines, or even your vehicle being towed.

If you stay parked on an on-street space longer than paid for in Lyon, you expose yourself to a post-parking fixed penalty.

It amounts to €35 in the Tempo zone and €60 in the Presto zone, making it the most expensive FPS in France.
