Where can you park in Paris?
Parking in Paris isn't an easy task. As years go by, the number of on-street parking spaces keeps shrinking, partly to limit car use. As proof of this policy, between 2001 and 2015, more than 61,000 parking spaces were removed. And if you do find a space, you'll most often pay top dollar.
Underground, public and private car parks in Paris
Another solution for parking in Paris: underground car parks. There are several types: public, private and private-for-public-use. These car parks are most often secured, equipped with CCTV and sometimes with on-site staff. Problem: they are also very expensive.
But these car parks are often full and lack available spaces, especially public ones. Private car parks can make it easier to find an available space, and therefore save you time. With Yespark, easily find a space suited to your vehicle: our network has more than 800 car parks spread across the capital. By booking via our website or app, you'll benefit from a space available anytime!
Where can you find cheap parking in Paris?
If finding a parking space isn't always easy in Paris, finding cheap parking is even harder. In total, according to Apur (Paris Urbanism Agency), Paris has:
- 169,000 on-street parking spaces;
- 72,000 parking spaces granted to operators;
- 100,000 parking spaces managed by private companies under shopping centres or public facilities;
- 450,000 parking spaces inside properties owned by flat or building owners and real-estate companies.
Generally, spaces in public car parks are very expensive. The busier the area, the tighter parking is, and the more expensive the spaces.
To enjoy attractive rates, it's better to go for a long-term parking solution. Yespark, for example, has a dense network of covered car parks in Paris. In addition to offering cheap parking, we let you rent your private space. This subscription is commitment-free and lasts as long as you need the space.
How to find long-term parking in Paris?
By choosing long-term parking in Paris, you can save money. You can take a subscription in a public car park or use services like Yespark or Zenpark. The latter in particular offer:
- Monthly plan: with a monthly subscription, enjoy a private space where you need it, 24/7.
- Unlimited access: access your space whenever you need it!
- Monitored car parks: most of our car parks have CCTV and are watched by staff.
Park your vehicle long-term with peace of mind with Yespark while saving money!
Where can you park for free in Paris?
Free parking spaces are extremely rare in Paris. They're also very popular, so rarely available. Out of all on-street parking spaces, fewer than 7,000 are free. You'll find them mainly:
- in the 16th arrondissement;
- route de Suresnes;
- allée de Longchamp;
- route de la Porte des Sablons;
- avenue Mahatma Gandhi;
- place Louis Lépine;
- quai du Marché Neuf.
Note also that on-street parking is only paid between 9am and 8pm. Outside these hours, you can park for free.
Places where it's very hard to park in Paris
In Paris, 1 in 5 moving cars is looking for a parking space. On average, expect 30 minutes of searching before finding a spot, and this time doubles, even triples, in high-traffic neighbourhoods. As you'll have guessed, the Parisian parking stock is deliberately undersized, despite the many covered car parks. In these conditions, you'll encounter (very) great difficulties parking in the following places:
Near stations and airports
The stations and airports of Paris are busy transit hubs. Traffic and parking in the surrounding area can be very difficult. It's better to plan ahead and book your space to be sure you can park nearby. Here are the stations and airports where it's hardest to find a parking space:
Near stadiums and concert halls
Stadiums and concert halls are also very busy in Paris. At the heart of Parisian life, many visitors come from all over France on event days. Here are some examples of places where it's very hard to park during events:
Around tourist landmarks and in certain neighbourhoods
Finally, some tourist landmarks and neighbourhoods are particularly popular. Well-known and widely visited, finding a parking space there can be a real challenge. These places and neighbourhoods include, for example:
- The Eiffel Tower
- Place du Trocadéro
- Disneyland Paris
- Place de la Concorde
- Bercy
- Châtelet-les-Halles
- Montmartre
- Bastille
- Place de Clichy
- Fondation Louis Vuitton
- Place de la République
- Invalides
- Pigalle neighbourhood
- Vincennes Zoo
We therefore recommend you avoid these places if you don't want to waste your time unnecessarily. To make the parking side easier, we suggest you park your vehicle in a space you'll have booked and rented in advance. This avoids nasty surprises: you'll be sure to park your vehicle in a covered and affordable car park!
Where to park for a few days in Paris?
Are you passing through Paris for just a day, or for a few days? For short or medium stays, find a space that meets your needs with Yespark!
Yespark offers spaces to book for a few hours or several days, depending on how long you need. Other solutions exist but are usually more expensive:
- public car parks;
- on-street spaces (7 days maximum);
- hotel car parks;
- park-and-ride (P+R) car parks.
These solutions work well for short- and medium-term parking, but often cost quite a bit. Note that in park-and-ride car parks, you typically can't stay longer than 24 hours.
Where can you find park-and-ride parking in Paris?
Park-and-ride car parks are often located near public transport hubs and encourage intermodality. They usually offer attractive rates for users of the city's transport network (here, the trains, buses and trams of the Île-de-France Mobilités network, i.e. RATP and SNCF).
The Île-de-France park-and-ride car parks are not located in Paris itself, but in the surrounding departments. Most are in the outer ring, though some are in the Val-de-Marne (94) and Seine-Saint-Denis (93) departments.

How do I pay for parking in Paris?
You have several ways to pay for parking in Paris. First, you can pay at a meter, by bank card, prepaid card or Paris Carte (note: it doesn't work on all meters).
Otherwise, you can pay with one of the following apps, depending on the parking space:
- PayByPhone
- Flowbird
- EasyPark
- Indigo Neo
On-street parking in Paris

Two-wheeler parking in Paris
Very nimble, two-wheelers move easily around the capital. However, if you travel on a PTW (powered two-wheeler), you'll need a secure parking solution to avoid theft or vandalism. PTWs are particularly exposed to street theft.
Problem: since 1 September 2022, PTW parking has become paid in Paris, at the same rates as cars. A flat rate is available for residents, giving them preferential prices. For non-residents who need to park regularly in the capital, the 2RM Pass has been introduced.
Bicycle parking in Paris
For a bicycle, it's also worthwhile finding a parking space. About 500 bicycle thefts are reported each month in Paris. The city offers secure bike shelters throughout. For a subscription of €75 per year, you can access these shelters via your smartphone and the "Ma Clé" app, or with a badge sent to your address.
Yespark also offers bike spaces. Find your bike space in Paris via our website or app. You can park your bike sheltered from bad weather and theft. You'll also enjoy the same benefits as our standard offer!
Are there truck and van car parks in Paris?
It's very hard to drive and park in Paris with a truck. There are reportedly only 2 truck car parks in the capital:
- 4 rue du Clos 75020
- 211 avenue Gambetta 75020
With a van, it'll be easier to find a car park. Make sure the clearance height of the car park is suitable for your vehicle.
Delivery spaces in Paris: can I park there?
You can park in a delivery space in Paris. However, certain rules apply. You must distinguish between two types of delivery zones. If the space is marked with dashed lines, then it's not exclusively reserved for deliveries. You can park there from Monday to Saturday, 8pm to 7am, as well as on Sundays and public holidays.
On the other hand, spaces marked with solid lines are strictly reserved for deliveries. In all cases, you can't park there. If you don't follow the rules for delivery spaces in Paris, you expose yourself to fines, or even to your vehicle being towed.
How much is the FPS (post-parking fixed penalty) in Paris?
If you stay parked longer than paid for at the meter or via any other payment method, you expose yourself to the post-parking fixed penalty (FPS) in Paris.
It amounts to €50 in zone 1 (districts 1 to 11) and €35 in zone 2 (districts 12 to 20). If the FPS is paid within 96 hours, you get a 30% discount (€35 in zone 1, €24.50 in zone 2). If you don't pay within 3 months of being notified, you'll also owe a €50 surcharge.
Note: since 1 October 2024, differentiated rates based on vehicle weight have been introduced. They also apply to the FPS. So, if your vehicle weighs more than 1600 kg (petrol or hybrid) or more than 2000 kg (electric), the FPS prices are:
- zone 1: €225
- zone 2: €150
