Good to know: C-Park also runs many bike parks (C-Park Vélo) near metro stations and rail stations, as well as bike lockers (Box vélo) in several towns of the metropolitan area.
The Rennes metropolitan area offers several solutions for parking on a budget, with rates tailored to different user profiles.
If you're coming to Rennes by car, prefer parking in park-and-rides. Located at various entry points to the town, they're identifiable by the P+R signs. These car parks are connected to the two metro lines and are free as long as you have a valid transport ticket. They're open during the day according to the metro's running times.
For those who park regularly in the town centre, subscription options (monthly, annual) are available from C-Park. They give preferential rates compared to hourly parking. Find out more on their website or directly at the car park.
For a one-off visit, hourly payment is available in all C-Park car parks. Hourly rates are displayed at the entrance of each car park and vary by location and demand.
Several options let you park for free in Rennes and its metropolitan area.
Park-and-ride (P+R): conditional free parking
It's the most attractive free option for visitors. Park-and-rides are free for public transport users, provided you have a valid transport ticket (metro or bus ticket). They're ideally placed at the gates of the town and connected to the metro network.
On-street parking
On-street, paid parking is split into two zones: green and red. In these zones, it remains free on Sundays and public holidays. Outside these zones, on-street parking spaces are free.
The historic centre's layout and the town's density create heavy parking pressure in several key areas.
Around Saint-Pierre cathedral, the Brittany Parliament and Place Sainte-Anne, the medieval streets offer few spaces. The car parks Les Lices, Hoche and Saint-Michel are valuable alternatives but in high demand, especially at weekends and during markets.
With the inflow of SNCF, regional rail and metro travellers, the Rennes station area is extremely busy. The De Gaulle-Gare and Gare-Sud car parks are strategic but can fill up quickly at peak times.
Around the Colombia shopping centre, the cinema and Les Champs-Libres, demand is constant. The Colombier and De Gaulle-Gare car parks are well placed but often very busy, especially on Saturdays.
With Université Rennes 2 and lots of student housing, the Villejean and Kennedy area sees heavy daytime pressure. The Kennedy-Villejean car park and the P+R Kennedy park-and-ride are options, but demand stays high.
On Saturday mornings, the famous Marché des Lices draws a huge crowd. The area is saturated, and the Les Lices, Chézy-Dinan and Saint-Michel car parks are taken by storm. It's strongly recommended to use the park-and-rides on that day.
Faced with demand, especially near the station, the town centre and business areas, finding a monthly space can be a challenge. Yespark makes life simpler by connecting you directly to private car parks available in Rennes and its surroundings.
Whether you're looking for a solution near the station, your study place or in a residential district, Yespark gives you access to private car parks with no commitment.

On-street parking in Rennes is split into two distinct pricing zones to fit the needs of town centre and outlying district users.
The two parking zones
Days and hours
Parking is paid in these two zones from Monday to Saturday, from 9am to 12pm and from 2pm to 7pm. So it's free on Sundays and public holidays and during the lunch break, from 12pm to 2pm.
Note: across all of Rennes, parking is limited to 24 hours maximum in the same place, including in non-paid zones. Beyond this period, your vehicle may be considered as parked abusively.
