Where to find cheap parking in Strasbourg?

Key points : avoid public car parks and on-street parking (£3.50/hour in the red zone), prefer the outskirts or Yespark rental.

Car parks can quickly become expensive in Strasbourg. In general, INDIGO car parks are fairly pricey compared to Parcus car parks. If you want to save money, it's better to avoid them. On-street, in paid parking zones and during paid hours, the first hour is 3.50 €, which is also quite expensive.

To park at an affordable rate, it is therefore better to head for parking spaces on the outskirts. Alternatively, you can book a Yespark parking space. Yespark offers competitively priced spaces throughout the city of Strasbourg and the surrounding area! Yespark parking rental allows you to access your car park in 2 minutes!

Places where it is very difficult to park in Strasbourg

Key points : historic centre (Grande Île), Petite France, around the station and red/purple zones: very congested.

    Historic city centre (Grande Île)

The medieval heart of Strasbourg, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is extremely congested. Public car parks such as Gutenberg or Kléber-Homme de Fer are often full, especially during peak hours or at weekends. The Cathédrale Notre-Dame and Place Kléber are particularly problematic due to heavy tourist traffic.

    Petite France district

This picturesque neighbourhood, with its canals and half-timbered houses, attracts many visitors. Parking spaces are scarce, and the few car parks such as Centre historique Petite France charge high rates (12€ for 24h).

    Around Strasbourg-Ville station

The area around Strasbourg station, particularly the Wodli car park, is in high demand. Rates here reach 20 € for 24h, and free areas require a 25-minute walk.

Rue des Juifs and shopping areas

This popular shopping street is surrounded by expensive car parks such as Gutenberg - Parcus. Free alternatives are a 15-minute walk away (e.g. Rue Jean Hultz).

European institutions area (European Parliament, Palais des Droits de l'Homme)

Although parking is free there, the proximity of the institutional buildings generates high demand, particularly during official events.

    Red and purple zones

    • Red zones (city centre): limited to 3 hours of parking with high rates (2.1€/h).
    • Purple spaces: experimental since 2023, they limit parking to 1h30 with 35€ fines for overstaying. Examples: Rue du Temple Neuf, Place de la Gare.

    Around the Palais Rohan

Nearby car parks such as Bateliers are often full during the day, forcing visitors to opt for cheaper but more distant areas (e.g. Krutenau).

    Christmas market period

During the Strasbourg Christmas market, the city centre becomes almost inaccessible by car, with higher rates and tighter restrictions.

The city of Strasbourg has 10 park-and-ride facilities, all located 5 to 20 minutes from the city centre (place de l’Homme de Fer):

    • Espace Européen de l’Entreprise (20 min)
    • Hoenheim Gare (20 min)
    • Boecklin (17 min)
    • Rives de l’Aar (11 min)
    • Ducs d’Alsace (8 min)
    • Poteries (18 min)
    • Rotonde (5 min)
    • Parc des Romains (9 min)
    • Elsau (11 min)
    • Baggersee (15 min)

The first 30 minutes are free. The daytime rate is 4.20 €, and the 24-hour rate is 7.20 €. For CTS subscribers, parking is free and unlimited, except for the Rotonde car park (a specific subscription is required).

Paying for your parking in Strasbourg:

Several payment methods are available. You can go to the pay-and-display machine where you can pay by credit card, cash or via your smartphone. You no longer need to place a ticket on your windscreen, so make sure to enter the correct registration plate on the pay-and-display machine. If the input is wrong, you expose yourself to a post-parking fixed fee.

You can also pay via your smartphone using the OPnGO, Whoosh or Easy Park apps. These different apps let you adjust the length of your parking time and pay only for the time you have parked. Note that payment in one pricing zone is not recognised in another zone, even if the rate is cheaper there.
    Lire plus

What is the amount of the post-parking fixed fee in Strasbourg?

Key points: 35 € fine (reduced to 17 € within 72 hours) for non-payment or overstaying.

It is no longer the municipal police who check that you have paid for your parking, but the company Indigo through its subsidiary Streeteo.

If you have not paid for your parking then you expose yourself to a post-parking fixed fee and also if you have not paid the full amount for your parking time in Strasbourg. The post-parking fixed fee (FPS) is 35 € (reduced to 17 € if paid within 3 days):
    • If the motorist has not exceeded the maximum parking time but has paid a portion of the fee, this will be deducted from the FPS amount. For example, 4.20 euros paid in the red zone for 2 hours of parking gives rise to a deduction from this amount in the case of a check within the following hour. Indeed, parking in the red zone is limited to 3 hours. Consequently, the post-parking fee is 17 euros - 4.20 euros = 12.80 euros if paid within 72 hours or 35 euros - 4.20 euros = 30.80 euros if paid beyond 3 days.
    • If the check is carried out beyond the maximum authorised parking duration, the post-parking fee is 17 euros (payable within 3 days) or 35 euros (if paid after).

Where to park and charge your electric car in Strasbourg?
For some time now, Strasbourg has been keen to speed up the development of the number of charging points for electric cars. This project is based in particular on a 15-year partnership with Engie to catch up on accumulated delays and to equip all the municipalities of the Eurométropole. However, public charging points cannot meet every need.

Yespark lets you rent your private charging point on a monthly basis, with the parking space included! Thanks to the Yespark ReCharge offer, you can benefit from a private, secure car park and pay only for the energy you use.
