Places where it's hard to park in Le Plessis-Robinson
The town centre
The centre of Le Plessis-Robinson is often very busy, especially at peak hours and on market days. With its many cultural and iconic venues such as the Saint Jean-Baptiste church and the Orangerie, parking demand is high, making it hard to find a free space.
Town hall
The town hall of Le Plessis-Robinson is known for its incredible architecture. Built in 1412 for Jean Piquet de La Haye, treasurer-general of King Charles V's finances, the building then belonged to many prominent figures such as Pierre de Montesquiou d'Artagnan, Marshal of France and cousin of the famous musketeer, Claude Régnier, Duke of Massa and Napoleon I's Minister of Justice, and Louis Hachette, founder of the famous publishing house. Since 1931, the former seigneurial castle has housed the town hall and thus holds a central place in Robinson life.
Lower cité-jardin
On both sides of the avenue de la République and rue Lucien Arrufat, 217 housing units were built between 1924 and 1926. The aim was to offer a town in the countryside whose pleasant living environment contrasts with Parisian overcrowding. In addition to the omnipresence of gardens made available to tenants, the complex is characterised by human-scale buildings, individual houses or small collective buildings in Art Deco architecture.
The new cité-jardins
In 2008, the new cité-jardins designed by architect Xavier Bohl offered a reinterpretation of the garden city concept, between avenues du Général de Gaulle and Aristide Briand. Over 21 hectares, this district with classical architecture offers a privileged living environment organised around an artificial river almost a kilometre long and fed by rainwater. This innovative urban achievement has earned the town of Le Plessis-Robinson numerous awards: Philippe Rotthier prize in 2008, European grand prix for urbanism in 2012.
