Car parks to book in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés

Did you know that Saint-Maur-des-Fossés was once a major pilgrimage site? Since the 11th century, rumour has it that a statue of the Virgin, not made by human hand, appeared there. From that day on, millions of people travelled to the site, to the point that Saint-Maur was as well known as Lourdes.

The pilgrimage suddenly stopped in 1968 before picking up again a few years later. The result is a large number of places of worship, including the Saint-Nicolas church in the old Saint-Maur neighbourhood and the Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire church at the heart of the parc de Saint-Maur neighbourhood. Worth mentioning too are the Saint-François-de-Sales church, Saint-Hilaire or Sainte-Marie-aux-Fleurs.

Many residents own a car, there are lots of cars and few on-street parking spaces. In that case, it's better to opt for renting a parking space.

Saint-Maur-des-Fossés is a town close to Paris and Créteil. It is therefore perfectly served by the Paris region's public transport! There are, for example, four RER A stops: Saint-Maur-Créteil, the parc de Saint-Maur station, the Varenne-Chennevières station and lastly the Champigny station. A line 15 metro stop is also expected, as part of the Grand Paris expansion. Renting a parking space will let you park in an allocated space 24/7.

The commune of Saint-Maur-des-Fossés is divided into three zones. The first is the white zone. Here, parking is free regardless of the time. There are nearly 16,000 free-access spaces. A zone marked out by alternating signs. Watch out though, parking is limited to 24 hours. The blue zone is marked by spaces with white lines whose corners are blue.

You can park there for up to an hour and a half. The only condition is to have a European parking disc, to be placed behind the windscreen. For residents with a permit sticker, it is possible to park there for up to seven consecutive days. There are, in all, 5,200 spaces in the blue zone. Lastly, the red zone lets drivers park for up to 3h.

These spaces are paid. They are easily recognisable, as the word "Payant" is written on the ground. In total, 1,440 red-zone parking spaces have been created. The three hours end up rather expensive, though, as you have to pay 30 euros.

On-street parking is payable from Monday to Saturday and free on Sundays, public holidays and throughout August. Your time-stamped ticket must be displayed visibly behind your vehicle's windscreen. Payments are made directly at a pay-and-display machine, with your bank card, or via the streeteo app.

Beyond that, a post-parking fixed fee (FPS) of 30 euros will be applied, reduced to 17 euros if paid within four days. For residents, a preferential rate applies. Feel free to contact the parking office at 52 rue Barbès to provide the required documents and photocopies. The annual fee is 115 euros.

The town of Saint-Maur has 4 public car parks. They are located:

• at 62 avenue Diderot. This is the town hall car park.
• At 9 rue Baratte Cholet, this is the Adamville car park.
• At 1 and 2 places de La Louvière, this is the Louvière car park.
• At 3 avenue du Mesnil, this is the La Varenne car park.

The commune also has a surface car park, located place Stalingrad. All these car parks are managed by Indigo. They can be accessed by subscription or by standard payment. The rate scales with how long you stay on site.

Champignol neighbourhood

The Champignol neighbourhood, in the north-west of the town, is a neighbourhood home to the Champigny RER station. A lively spot, with plenty of restaurants, gyms and other go-to venues. It's better to opt for a parking rental in this neighbourhood.
